Hello All,
I just bought a 2004 255 Conquest Twin Merc 150's and on sea trials I noticed some hydraulic fluid had flowed into the bilge. The bilge was clean before launch and through calm water testing. This was the first rough day. On inspection one of the trim tabs on the stern of the boat appears to now be missing. I am guessing the hydraulic fluid leaked from this system as a result. My question is: Does the steering system share the same hydraulic system/fluid source as the trim tabs? I can live without the trim tabs for a while - until I get it out of the water again in a couple of weeks - but it needs to get looked at ASAP if the steerage could be affected.

Thanks in advance for any information.

cheers,

Tim

Normally two separate systems, no connection what so ever.

If it still steered while there was a massive oil leak due to a "trim tab appeared to be missing" (was there a clue left so you know where to search for the tab, sorry. could not resist). They are on separate systems. Usually they have independent reservoirs and pumps.
