Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: In search of: Aftermarket boarding Ladder

I have a 1979 22' Revenge and it does not have a boarding ladder. I'd like to eventually add a small platform and ladder to the transom but in the meantime I'd like to buy an aftermarket ladder that I can hang over the gunwale. Does anyone have a reccomendation for something that would work well with the classic Outrage/Revenge?

Thanks

John

Sent you an email, I might have what you need from an old parts boat.

I acquired a Platismo 5 step ladder for my boat (same hull 1979 22ft Revenge). It has a couple of straps that attaches to the gunwale with a pull down cord that releases the ladder. I plan on having it in place when solo fishing. I also have a rigid cheapo 3 step folding ladder that is on board (picked up at garage sale) that a person can easily hang from the gunwales if a passenger falls overboard.

Thanks to both of you.

Garris, the over the gunwale el cheapo ladder is what I was initially considering for this summer (if all goes well with the water test this weekend). Would a 3 step be OK for the Revenge or should I go with the 4? I also see online that the hooks are generally 7 or 11". Considering the width of the gunwale, the 7" would probably be a better fit right?

Turpin has a teak transom mounted swim platform with a one step ladder that he offered to me. If the water tests go well I will probably see if I can modify the teak platform to mount onto the transom like Joe's :

John, mine is the 11" and three steps. Never deployed it so cannot advise 3 or 4 step layout. The 3 step looked good enough for me for $5.

Can't go wrong for $5. If it doesn't work as a ladder you can use it in the shop for drying boat rags. I'll see if I can get one at our local boat shop. If it doesn't work I'll just take it back.

Thanks
