Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Replacing drain tube on 1983 Montauk

I was going over my 1983 Montauk this evening (trying to get it in for the season after cold winter & no so warm spring) .

I noticed the flange on the brass drain tube had corroded. This is the outside facing flange for the center channel drain as it exits the hull.

Is there a recommended method to remove the rest of the tube in the hull? Also, what is the recommended method to install a new tube?

Appreciate any advice on this as this is the original drain tube.

Thanks-Steve

I just asked the same question a couple of days ago, gchuba 6/15/14 "Installing a drain tube". There is also a comprehensive explanation in the article section of this web site under "installation instructions". Read those sections and if any further detail is needed ask away.

I just bought everything I needed from Twin Cities Marine. Family owned BW dealer. Got tube, o rings, installation tool and instructions.
