Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Bow Mount Trolling (with rail)

I just called my local Bass Pro Shops and inquired about the Minn Kota I Pilot. I wanted to know if it could be installed on a Whaler with a bow rail. They told me that the I Pilot has the smallest profile motor in their line. Specifically, I was told that this unit can be deployed if the rail is at least 8 inches high. I measured the clearance on my Dauntless 160 and it measures 13 inches.

I have already searched and read ALL the posts on this issue. I am hopeful, though, that the I Pilot may indeed work with a properly placed "trolling plate".

Any thoughts...?

I have an I-Pilot on my classic Outrage 18, but I don't have any bow rails. I am pretty sure it would be possible to deploy under your rails, but I don't know for certain. It's by far the best electric trolling motor system on the market. If you can make it work, you'll be pleased with it :)

I have a CoPilot mounted on my 1999 Montauk with Bow rails and it clears. See my profile.
