Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Outrage 21 water in the front well

The boat is in the water. She floats like the foam block she should be. Please check if you think she's right on her line on my personal page.

I have a few issues but nothing major. One thing is that I have water in the front deck well. Should I plug the drain hole? Should it be wet all the time or is the boat heavy on it's nose?

If I plug it I think that the pressure wave from a jump could pop the plug away???

Thanks for your help, Fred

Your boat looks great and is floating high with very little water in the well. Put the plug in it and bail it out. After it rains my 21 Outrage has water in the well and I bail it out.

There should be a clam shell vent covering the forward half of the drain tubes on the outside of the hull.

On your personal page I notice the original brass drain tube has been replaced with a different type. You should add a cover to this drain and check the other drain tubes as well.

The clam shell vents come in different sizes. I would guess, given the large shoulder of the bow locker drain, you need the large size.

I have never seen a clam shell on the banana boats' drain tube, at least not pre-1976 boats. That water is normal. Put a plug on the inside to keep water out.
