I assume your asking why do I think it's aluminum. The plate is soft, light, bends easy, and was very easy to drill out the existing mounting holes. Stainless steel is much harder to bend and harder to drill. I've worked with both aluminum and stainless extensively. The one I received is definitely aluminum.
