Hi folks. I'm right in the middle of restoring/rebuilding a 1970 16 custom. Calling it a custom because I could not find any stencil numbers.
I'm modeling the boat after an Eastport model for the most part. An exception would be the RPS helm seat. I'm trying to figure out where to install the fuel tank or tanks. Not sure where they were located on an original Eastport.
I'm thinking of putting an aluminum or deck tank under the seat and drilling a hole with through hull fitting into the tube that runs fore and aft below the deck. I've noticed the Montauks have what looks like a hole in the floor for the fuel lines.
Any thoughts on that? Or other suggestions?
Thanks

An Eastport would have had its tanks under the console.

To have tanks under the pilot seat, you need cut an access hole into the rigging tunnel for the fuel hose, as is done on Montauks and other models. That is a very simple task.
