I wanted to put a name (vinyl lettering) on the side of my 1990 17' Montauk.

Wondeirng if anyone has any suggestions of letter height i.e. the height of the letters? 6 inches?

Or knows the height of the "Whaler" lettering that you frequenlty see on the sides of Montauks.

Also what is the best way of determining the proper height to place the name so that it is not beneath the water line.

Good Question. I have never thought about the height nor measuring the height of anyone else's lettering.

Here is just one photo I found with some letters on it. Don't mind the old fisherman in the photo, he won't bite.... :)
