We are looking at restoring a 1977 19 Outrage. We are wondering how the deck insert is attached to the hull. The deck piece has deteriorated significantly more then the hull and it appears that it is actually screwed to the hull piece. It appears that the two components meet at the rubrail. It also looks like there is a wooden strip that is screwed through a lip on the deck assembly to the top of the hull that holds the deck assembly to it. We can see this through the storage ports in the side of the gunwale. Does anyone out there know how these are put together, is it mechanical or chemical and it is possible to take the assembly off. We want to refinish the inside walls of the hull which show through the storage ports.

Thanks for your input

the top cap had been taken off when I got my outrage but I believe it was just screwed on behind the rubrail.

I think it might have 5200 or something like it. Those rivets don't last forever.
