Personally I think that one should modify or build to suit their own desires and not be concerned with others. If you're building a boat to put on display for people to walk by and look at then keep it as pure and authentic as possible. If you're doing one so you can enjoy it as it was meant to be then pull out all the stops and do what you want. You did an absolute fantastic job of turning that piece of fiberglass into a thing of beauty and you should be proud of it. And guess what...........you can actually use it for your own pleasure. Ohmygosh, you could probably even put it in saltwater!
