Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Montauk Aluminum S/N Plate Questions

I "had" an aluminum plate on the starboard stern (exterior) about 1" x 4" that had what I believe to be the Hull ID S/N. The rivets finally gave up the ghost and when cleaning the hull the other day it fell off ...on shore.

Is this the standard Montauk Hull ID plate?

Where can I order a replacement?

Thanks

What you describe is the HIN plate or tag installed by the factory when the boat was made. You cannot just order a replacement but you can make a new easily or have a trophy shop make one for you.

The HIN tag is easily installed with four 1/8" pop-rivets.

Joe -- That is an excellent display of HIN tags in the article. One minor correction: the aluminum tags are ONE inch tall, not two inches tall.

Good catch on my typo Tom.

The article has been corrected to reflect 4 inches long by 1 inch high.

Mine did the same. I had a piece of stanless in the approximate size so I bought a $5 stamp set at the local hardware store and made it my self. Mounted with screws and silicone it will never rot off again. It looks sharp as well. My .02
