Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos

Hi,
I am very new to Boston Whalers, I live in Oman and I am looking at buying an Outrage -23. Firstly I can find no information on an outrage 23 and there are no plates left with HID numbers. It looks like The mechanic tells me the engines on it are too old to repair. it has 2 x 140 hp Evinrudes. H tells me he can replace with 2 x 175 hp 2nd hand Johnsons. Will this hull be ok with the added weight and HP? I will send pics soon.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
There is no way to exactly say how old it is,, but I would guess early 80's. The motors will be around early 2000. I checked on the web and the 175 seem about 200lbs heavier than the 140's that are on it now. Will that be an issue?

Why is there no way to tell the age? It is missing the HIN plate on the transom? If that is gone you can use the stencil number to find out it's age by contacting Chuck Bennett at Whaler.

If it is an early 80's the Whaler it is either a 22 or 25 Outrage. You will need to let us know which one it is as it will greatly effect how you can rig it.

Sorry for the delayed reply, there is a plate on the back but I have not bought it yet and the owner wont let me clean it up. Also I had a look and could not see any stenciling. The inside has been repainted. I have a cpouple of pics but cant upload them here. I will try to add them to my profile.

I would guess that you are talking about a Classic 22' model rather than a newer 23' model as the engines seem to be more fitting for the 22'.

However, take a look in the "Whaler Models and Info" link on the left sidebar to see if you can find the model.

Yest it would definately be a classic, I posted a couple of photos on my boat info. I live in Oman and have seen another BW with the same markings and it looked liked the same hull design but stating -24.....

Classic Whalers in this category were Outrage 20', Outrage 22', Outrage 24', Outrage 25'...

1998 was the first year of the Outrage 23' with the newer Accutrack™ hull design..
