I've got a Minn Kota motor I mount on the transom of the Montauk. It has more than enougth thrust to move the boat... we're manuvering in close quarters for bass... not really trolling. My issue... it is so tough to keep the boat controlled with the motor in the back of the boat.

Many boats have a forward mounted motor, but I can't imagine how I'd be able to have a mount like that on the Montauk given the shape of the deck at the bow of the boat.

Anyone else have any good ideas for solving thsi problem?

Thanks in advance for anny help.

Mike

Take a look at my personal page. My whalers do not have bow railings. Some other members here have figured out pretty good ways to deploy a bow mount motor on a montauk with bow rails.
