Hi there,

I have found a faded red Mischief, which would be great for the small lake that we live on. The price is very attractive, however, the boat is faded. How hard is it to restore it to a red color? Do you have to re- gelcoat? or is there some magic that someone can help me with.

thanks

Depending on the level of oxidation, a multi-step involving wet sanding, liquid/paste compound and wax will probably bring the gelcoat back to life. Start with 800 grit wet sandpaper and progress to 1500 grit. Then a cleaner compound machine applied (I like Collonite 920) and then a good wax application. The magic is in the dedication to the project...it's a lot of work, but done correctly, the results will be rewarding.
