I have seen a couple places where people have mentioned a transom bracket in the $150 range. But the only link I find is to Kentfab, and their bracket is $445.00. That sounds like highway robbery to me.
Does anyone know of somewhere else to find a transom bracket for my 1966 13'?? I have a new (to me) 20" shaft motor for the back of it, and would rather not have to get a fiberglass guy to build up the back.

Thanks Joe. That is only rated for up to 40hp, and I have a 1996 48 johnson special edition. Don't really want to go over the specs of the transom elevator.
Any other ideas??
Starting to think I am going to have to eat $445 if I want this done right....

A transom elevator does not add any additional strength, and in fact increases the leverage/strain on the transom by moving the motor up. Not a good thing IMO given you want to mount the 48. You can see the Transdapter on my personal page. It definitely adds strength and was worth it to me, but YMMV.

thanks. Looks like I am down to one option. $445 out of my pocket. Oh well, from all that I see, the transadapter is a great looking option, and sturdy as well. Didn't want an extra $500 in the berth, but what are we going to do? These are classic boats. I want mine to look great and still be strong.
The 1966 boat was given to my father new when he was 15. He passed it down to me when I was 15. Have done plenty of reworks on the wood. Never tackled new glass/paint/transom. Should be an interesting off season... I will make a project album to show the progress.
Looking forward to letting it fly with the 48hp on it.
