Hi
I'm looking at a 1998 205 conquest to buy. I'm wondering if its a good buy. It's a 98 with a 97 200hp Evinrude that has been rebuilt. the current owner will give a 6 month warranty with the motor to the buyer. The boat is in pretty good shape except for its normal wear and tear due to age. Cushions on the transom need to be changed out and possibly a new depth /fish finder. The bimini top is also aging. I don't think they cared to much about keeping it cleaned and waxed much. I'm a 84 18' outrage owner and would like to upgrade. Family is bigger now. the boat is selling for 14k. It looks like a really good deal. I'm looking for some input!!! I think i'm just nervous about pulling the trigger. My wife isn't to thrilled. The big issue is that i can't go see it. its a 10hr ride to look at it. The owner has sent a lot of pics but it's not the same without looking at it.

thanks

p.s. i hope some from here doesn't find it and buy it before me ha ha!! :)

I'm not exactly sure which Conquest you are referring to.

The 3 digit name like 205, 240, 260, 280, etc. did not start until the year 2002.

This 1998 Conquest should be something like:
Conquest 21'
Conquest 23'

Please let us know which model Conquest you are referring to.

That sounds like a great price for a Conquest 21' if everything checks out and the boat is in fair to good condition.

Not sure about the Engine...
Is that an Evinrude Ficht?
A 6 month warranty would still be a good deal.

The motor is an ocean pro series. The mechanic couldn't figure what caused it to blow but they put $4075 into it. A new block and other parts. I'm a little nervous about it but with a warranty i think i will be ok. Other 21 conquest are selling for about 20k

Sounds like a decent deal to me as well, if all is on the up and up. Not sure of the age of your children or if your wife boats with you a lot, but it is always nice to have a place for the kids to get out of the sun/weather and your wife will probably like the fact that it has a porta potti - could use that fact to help “sell” her on it :). Good luck

2 kids under 4 and my wife likes to go boating. My wife will for sure like the porta potty.

Found the posting - the boat looks very nice in the pics - couldn’t really tell about the fish finder or canvas/weather curtains condition, however the cushions might clean up - although it appears that the starboard one is ripped in the back?? The trailer looks brand new. I am about 1.5 hours away from the area and would be willing to take a look if I can get down that way this weekend (maybe any members closer to the Richmond, VA area could stop by and take a look for you, as well).

Hey I would like to take you up on that offer at looking at the boat for me, only if you might be in the area.
