Can teak gunwales be added to an Outrage that did not have them from the factory? I am looking at a nice late model 22 for sale and it is in very nice shape but i miss the look of the wood.

Yes they can.
They were optional from the factory on the later models and standard on the earlier models.

Thanks Joe. Do you know if it is a cut and dried procedure or is it more involved? Any idea of the difficulty of locating the wood and the cost?

The materials to do an 18, the teak, stainless rub rails and strakes, screws, ect, no other hardware just cost me $800. They are rather tricky to fabricate, especially the first time. I had planed on offering these for sale, but they are just too labor intense, and each boat is a little different and requires too much fitting to be mass produced. I would say one should have better than average wood working skills to do the project.

They came out fine, 6 months or so behind schedule. I still need to do the final install and finishing. As some of you may or may not know, I had to have open heart surgery in May to repair a valve that was chewed up by some sort of infection, endocarditis. Things are getting back to normal, and I might even get this boat of mine in the water before the stripers show up in force in September.
