I have a '05 150 sport with a '05 merc 60. I haul along pretty well, but at about 5000 rpm my 2 stroke starts to scream but i don't get any more speed. I feel like I have the wrong prop.??

Hard to say without knowing what prop you currently are running.

my general knowledge is for you to determine 1st whether your motor will 'over-rev' - meaning exceed the maximum RPMs with the current prop. if so, definitely re-prop.

i found on other boats that up close to max i don't see a lot of difference. u might want to run your boat and observe a GPS to determine the exact speed at each RPM level - 3500/4000/4500 etc ... maybe even smaller increments.

i generally try to find a "most economical" cruies rather than best wide open throttle speed. good luck.

When you say say scream, do you mean rpm increase dramatically with no speed change? If so, it could be either cavitating or your hub inside the prop is slipping.

I suppose "scream" was a little harsh of a description. I just meant that I can hear the motor revving to higer levels without much increase in speed.
