As it appears to me, my motor does not have the ABYC standard tilt tube as you can see from my picture in my project album...

Can I get away with the transom support mount as is shown here, second one down? Or is that precisely the mount that you all say will not work due to the shape of the transom?

I really want to avoid taking this thing to the dealer and saying "here, please do this." It seems like I have gotten far enough with the project, but the idea of getting flung out of the boat mercilessly as it goes hard over because I mounted something wrong seems less than appealing.

MW, no disrespect. I am just paranoid about it I'm sure.

"Safety" is a GOOD Thing to be paranoid about, make sure the steering is "Right", as I'm sure that you will by looking at your quality work.

I had a transom mount on a boat that worked fine for many years. It was like the second one down on the Teleflex pdf. I believe these come in different lengths. The distance from the mount to where the cable is held. I like the looks of the IN BOARD STRINGER SUPPORT MOUNTING the best, they also come in different sizes.

Guts, how would one go about mounting the inboard stringer support for use on an outboard application? Will you explain? I feel like a novice with this teleflex stuff...I guess I am.

John I'm a novice at this too. I have never had the stringer type before. It would have to swivel in some way. If it did it could be mounted on the transom. The one I had was the transom type and it dose swivel. I'm sure some one has done what you are doing and will chime in on this. As I see your engine is a tiller type, there might be a conversion kit? to convert it . How is the throttle going to work.

The motor is a tiller, but it will be controlled remotely. Shift and throttle by way of single level morse MT2 i think is the model. it is not used as a tiller, it just has the tiller handle on it. See my project album in its entirety for a better idea.
