Outrage 240 Fish Boxes full o' water

The fish boxes in the 240 outrage I use are full of water all the time. There is a sign that says something like 'do not pull drain plugs on fish boxes due to possible swamping.' How do I get that water out? The bilge pump will remove some but there the boxes are always about 1/3 full. Anyone know how to remedy this problem without trailering the boat?

I am not familiar with the Outrage 240.
How is the water getting into the fish boxes?
Bad scuppers?
Rain?
Wave?
Bad drain plugs?

I would assume that water is coming from the deck and seeping in, either from rainwater or scrubbing the deck, but I'm not sure. The boat is not mine and it's been there since I've had to use it. It just bothers me that there is probably around 25 gallons of water total that we are just carrying around for no reason. Just looking for a simple way to remove that water.

Pull the plug when you're running on plane, it'll drain in a minute or two, pop the plug back in and you can power down. When you pull it, you should be able to tell by feel which way the water is going.

You should be able to pump the water out with the macerator pumps (fish box pumps). There is one pump for each box. I have a similar problem with my 2003 outrage. The fishboxes are constantly filling with water from rain events and simple washdowns of the top side of the boat. These boxes are a very poor design in ,my openion. Anybody else having similar problems with these boxes? I am now having what I think is a related problem, where the macerator pumps keep failing. This is very aggrevating.

I have a new 2013 280 outrage and i have the same problem. Its in the dealer trying to find the leak. I think water is getting between the two shells where they are bonded together. The bow storage and the console behind the flip up step gets water in as well.

I have a couple of thoughts based on my Outrage 240.
You might want to taste the water to see if it is freshwater or salty. This can help figure if it is rain or leakage from below...
1) I found that both of my cockpit drains were pretty clogged with debris, including a plastic bag from the previous owner. Any blockage will cause more rainwater to accumulate in the boxes. A plumbing snake fixed this.
2) Check to make sure that your fishbox drainplugs are tight. I've seen mine leak. Theses plugs are almost a foot under the waterline, so there is more pressure than the average stern plug.
3) Check your pumps (impellers as well) and hoses to the macerators. I replaced my pumps and there is maybe a gallon of water left when I've done the pump out. I think the replacements were $80 apiece and took an hour each to replace.
My boat is kept on a lift and the rain water accumulates in the boxes if I leave the plugs in. It is worse if the boat is not perfectly positioned / leveled on the lift. I think it is a design issue. I assume there will be rainwater if I leave the plugs in. It only takes maybe 3 minutes to pump them out if full.
