Hi everyone, I just picked up a 1967 13’. Craigslist deal, pretty banged up but I’m attempting a full restoration. She has several gouges in the glass, a few shotty patches and loaded with spider cracks and crazing. I’m gonna sand her all the way down, glass, fair and either attempt gel coat or paint. This is my first full restore and I’m looking forward to it. My 5 year old son is super excited also. We have a 26’ Regulator express and are looking to play a little more in the back bays of south jersey and the 13’ seemed like the perfect fit especially since it’s a nice fit in my garage.

Good Luck! Better invest in some tyvex suits and plenty of dust mask. Use a good fan to blow the dust far away. Try to think of it like this, one section at a time, it might make it go by faster. Document your progress so us supporters can cheer you on. Go team Go!

Having trouble posting pictures. Says invalid size or file?? Anyways I built an enclosure around the boat, flipped it and started on the bottom. After taking off 50years of bottom paint I notice there’s no filling the crazing/gel coat cracks so I’m taking it all the way down to glass. The whole boat! Yes, a case of tyvek suits, respirator, goggles, gloves, flap discs for my grinder, 3 different types of sanders and May hours of sanding in my future. Lol breaking it up into sections is helping. I have the Transom done and part of the bottom on the starboard side.

A little story: I picked the boat up about a month ago in a snowstorm. It was 105 miles away in Maryland and the gentleman was leaving the next morning to head south for the winter so it was a now or never deal. I left at 4am got there around 6 and loaded up. All was fine until about 50 Miles to go I hit a white out. I slowed down threw it in 4 wheel drive but still managed to hit a slick spot on an on ramp to i95. The truck did a few 360*’s flipped the boat and everything ended up in the ditch. The boat was strapped down so it stayed on the trailer but took some major damage. The boat was already stripped previously of everything, but I had the motor laying in the boat prior to the accident so it has some damage also. 2 state troopers were nice enough to help me flip it back over and I strapped and tied down as best I could and went on my way SLOWLY. I was ok, truck was banged up, trailer was banged up and boat also. I’ll post pictures of the damage once I figure out the picture posting.

Wow first I thought you were lucky for Christmas but now I have to re-think that. Luckily no personal body harm was done. Did your trailer chains hold and only your hitch let go/ripped of the ball?
If you are android you could use link from google photos for posting if you have trouble. (after opening the photos you can share an address picking a url).

Thanks! I’ll check that out. I’m on an I phone/ I pad.
Yes, chains held up but trailer tounge broke. I literally did the last 50 miles with the chains attached, boat strapped to trailer and eye of boat tied to hitch. It was dicey to say the least.
