I am trying to get my 1990 Outrage 18/19 in correct (ship) shape. I continue to read this site and learn, but as the posts I found were not clear to me, I thought I would re-ask a question.

My boat has the "newer style". I noticed a little wiggle when attaching the winch to the front eye. I would like to fix this properly and am looking for guidance. It appears that my boat has the 6 items shown in Joe's post from 2006 on this subject.

What procedure should I use to make this all the way it should be.

Thanks.

The bow eye has two (2) nuts on the outside and a threaded eye in the bow locker.

If it is loose, check the nuts to see that both are tight. Do they look even/parallel on the rods? If the nuts can tighten, hand tighten.

Tighten the bow eye inside the locker.

Is it still "loose"

I will tighten and get back, thanks.

I was uncertain as to how to tighten them. Each individually or just the outside nuts or just the inside.

My bow eye in on the deck, not inside the locker. I'm still unclear as to how tight to make it.....don't want to crush anything.

My boat has the newer version, like a U-bolt. Two nuts on outside and a nut & eye on inside deck of bow.

I turn the nuts to be even and I can see one circle of exposed thread on the exterior of the nut and hand tighten, then tighten the lifting eye as described in post #5

The marina where I will be launching my boat uses an overhead lift and attaches to the two eyes on the outside of the transom. The front is hooked to the eye on the inside of the bow, which I think is the "newer version" mentioned on this site.

My concern now is that the two nuts where the U-bolt is on the front of the bow don't have a plate behind them. Is this the way it was made or do you think it was left off at some point in time?

There is no plate on the exterior of the bow side. It is not a concern.

The yard should be using padding so the strap does not damage the rubrail and railing.

Personally, I would have them lift from the inside eye to avoid the above. It is a cleaner lift.

As I said Phil, they do lift from the inside eye. I was just curious about if there should be a plate under the two nuts on the outside of the bow.
