I recently purchased a 1995 Guardian 17' from the VA DNR. The hull is stripped, so I am planning to add a new rub rail, center console, bow rail, and a console seat. I could use some help from a Outrage I 17' (1990-1995) owner for some suggestion/measurements. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

For starters:
- Please advise the length from the transom to the rear of the console base
- I obtained a full bow rail from a 1995 19' Outrage. I need to make modifications to the 19' Outrage rail to fit my 17' Outrage. Does the front of the bow rail extend past the bow or does it end exactly at the front of the bow? What is the height from the point of the bow to the bottom of the bow rail?
- I would like to get the widest rub rail possible, any suggestions?

Thanks,
Skip

(edit to model year range for accuracy)

Welcome to WhalerCentral.

I owned a 1991 and now own a 1992 Outrage 17.

I can get measurements later this morning.

Modifying the Outrage 19 rail will be a bit of a challenge given the difference in width, length and height of the two models.

Can you post a few photos so we know what you have to help with accurate suggestions.

What rubrail do you have now? How much more width do you want given the width of the lip?

The console is 58" from the forward wall of the baitwell to the rear wall.

The bow rail does not extend past the bow. The rail rises from 8 1/2" to the 16" at the bow. Measurement is to the bottom of the rail.

There are two photos of the rail for reference. Let me know if you need more.

BTW - Where in OH are you?

You may want to check with Barbour Plastics for rub rail options. I believe they manufacture (or did at one time) Whaler rails. They also have several different styles of rub rails for other boats (the Whaler rub rail/insert package has a cross over to a different boat manufacturer......I ended up with the cross over with the only difference the amount of pre drilled holes). They may have a wider but similar series not Whaler original.

Thanks for the feedback. First link below is with rail mounted. All the legs except the front two legs landed on the deck flush. I had a welder tweak the front two legs and the mounts on the front two legs now lay flush as well. I am just not sure on the height and the boat is not currently on site but I will check the height of front rail as currently mounted and advise.

Phil, you referenced attaching 2 pics but I do not see the pics? Please advise.

I live in the Toledo, OH area.

Phil,

I like your leaning post setup swingback setup. Is there a back rest cushion on both sides of swingback leaning post or does the cushion flip to either side? Who makes that leaning post?

Skip -

That is my stock 1991 Outrage 17.

The cushion on the seat back gives comfort when the back is pushed aft for passengers.

I relocated my handles outward to allow me to sit on the seatback (I am 6'2").

The RPS is no longer made but you can see them come up for sale through the year on the whaler boards or on Craigslist.

This RPS was standard on all classic Montauk and Outrage models (17'-25').

Pre 1990 the z legs were brown.

New cushions can be obtained through Anderson's Mfg. www.amfg.us

I plan to lower the profile on the full bow rail that I currently have for fishing purposes. I like the overall height of the low profile bow rail on the early 70's Ribsides, per example in link below. If anyone has height from start of the rail to bow for the Ribside example in link that would be much appreciated.

I got the info from @Finnegan . 9 1/4 " up to 10 7/8 height for the low profile rail and 16 1/2 up to 18 1/2 for the height for the high/standard bow rail.
