So I recently purchased a 13' Dauntless that was registered as a 2004 model. Listed it for sale and several people informed me it was NOT a 2004. The hull ID plaque is gone but D70406 is stamped in the splash well. Can someone help ID the model year for me? Thanks in advance.
You would need to contact Boston Whaler to get the accurate year for your Dauntless 13'. Give them your Stencil number of D70406 and they can give you the 12 digit HIN. Keep this number for your records and you can have a new HIN plate made. http://www.whalercentral.com/articles...cle_id=103
From what we have, D70745 is a 1995 year model.
Your number is earlier then that but falls in line with the first year of the Dauntless 13' which was 1995. http://www.whalercentral.com/viewpage...age_id=166
So I would say from the Stencil number you gave us that you have a 1995 Daunltess 13' model.

A closer read of post #1 says his Stencil Number is in the Splash Well.
Take a look and let us know if you find it.

There were no Stencil Numbers for boats built starting in January of 1996 for 1996 year models.
However, boats built in July through December of 1995 as 1996 year models did have a Stencil Number.

I updated the link with both the Hull id and stencil no. which is D70459.
Yep, I had to reread it too.
Wasn't sure where the Stencil was on the Dauntless models.
Now we know.

Looks like the Dauntless 13' has D7 as the starting prefix.
The Dauntless 15' has B7 as the starting prefix.
