Hi guys, I pulled my Dauntless yesterday from our seasonal slip to take it home. I opened up the rear access panel where the engine wires pass through the hull and found it full of water. I pulled the plug emptying it out. I assume that since it has a plug it's normal for water to seep in there but does this mean that I need to recaulk the edges on the panel? The round screw in part of the panel was tight when I opened it but the caulking around the outside edges of the panel look a little worn. I'm going to buy a new plug also but what marine grade caulk should I purchase?
Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it!
Dave
That's pretty common with the 13 and 15 Dauntless models. Some folks add a small bilge pump in there because it's near impossible to keep water out. I trailer my Dauntless 15 and drain it on the trailer. If you keep it in the water, you can pull the plug while underway, and it will drain. Just remember to replace the plug .
