Was wondering if the rub rail designed for the 1997, 17' Montauk, would properly fit on a 1991 17' Montauk. The 1997 version, rub rail wraps around the transom corners and terminates at the outboard engine well with two plastic caps. I'd really like to keep the boat original, but the top of the transom is pretty cosmetically chewed up, however it is structurally sound and waterproof. At this point I'd like to cover it up with the rub rail and enjoy the boat and maybe repair the gel coat down the road when life isn't so busy. Thank you in advance for any input.
