I don't have enough room/clearance in the splash well to get the steering cable rod out of the tilt tube. Any tricks / recommendations that would allow me to get it out without removing/hoisting the motor? Thank you.
Phil, thank you. One quick follow-up question ... it looks like I'll get more clearance if I loosen the port bolts slightly and then loosen the starboard bolts enough to rotate the motor enough so that the tilt tube is now angled to allow me to feed the steering cable from behind the splash well (from outside the back of the transom) ... this make sense?
