Tom,
I've had good experiences with Jamestown Distributors:

Tom,
I am replacing my 18 Outrage 1984 teak with Sapele, which is an African Mahogany. It has an excellent grain, density almost identical to teak, and similar marine endurance. The supplier I am obtaining it from did his 1976 13' using it and put on an oil finish. I am leaning toward a tung oil finish. I get the parts back from the cabinent maker this week, so will keep you posted. There is also a teak supplier that has made these for the 18 Outrage, whihc I will look up and send if I find soon

Tom -
Check for high end lumber retailer in Burlington or Rutland. Then again, a small custom furniture company may the material. Knowing your general location in VT would help.

Boulter has fantastic marine lumber and are great to deal with. I have been buying Marne lumber from them for 30 years.

I second the Boulter Plywood recommendation; it is a great place! I am somewhat partial because it isn't too far from me.

Like I said, I've had good luck ordering from Jamestown, but wow that Boulter Plywood lumber yard looks fantastic. Thanks for posting that suggestion! Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I may try to stop in. Is it the sort of lumber yard that allows browsing, or is it just an on-line/mail-order operation?

You can go to Boulter and hand select the wood YOU want. They are great people. It is worth the trip.

Thanks to everyone. I consulted with Shelburne Shipyard where I keep my sailboat. they got me in touch with Maine Coast Lumber (207-363-7426). Steve there was terrific. he delivered two pieces of teak 10 ft long x 9' x 5/4 rough sawn to my house (4 hour drive). After an afternoon in a friend's wood working shop I have both pieces ready for making the cut - outs for haws pipes and fuel line. Will finish and reinstall in the spring. I was able to salvage the vertical pieces and refinish them.
