I never plug my anchor well. There is no way for rainwater or any water brought aboard with the anchor line to drain with the plug in. No water comes in the well if there's no one in the boat.
I winter in Ft. Myers and summer in St. Joseph, Michigan. It’s now about 12 years since I’ve joined this group. I gave my 1972 whaler to my daughter and sold the 17’. Bought an O’Day 28 sailboat and sailed on Lake Michigan. Yesterday I bought a 2005 130 Sport.
OK, I did not think of the need to drain anchor water.
What about the boat plug size, common to all drain ports. Could someone confirm it is 7/8?
I may want to buy a replacement plug with a longer, or different tightener - hard to reach in the bidge, near wiring
I never have but I'm considering it. I keep my boat in my garage and even if I store it with the locker door open (which I do) it takes days for all the line (300') plus 2 anchors to dry out, probably a couple weeks or longer if I leave it closed.
As said above, the issue is if you forget to unplug it while it's stored.
