Okay, I'm finally starting the "restoration" of my 1965 13 Sport. The previous owner put in a homemade interior and changed from the original cable steering to a Teleflex Safe-T steering. You can see the interior on my personal page. I'm going to replace the current interior with a proper mahogany interior. The question I have is installing the steering cable in the console. How are people running the cable - do they drill through the mahogany side rail or is there sufficient space on the console to get the "gentle" bend in the cable keep it inside the mahogany side rail?

And yes, as part of the restoration/upgrade I've got the 20 degree bezel for the steering helm.

I'm curious as to how this works as well. I thought I had to drill a hole in the side rail

On my 1966 13-foot Sport I routed the Teleflex cable through a oblong hole in the seat clamp. What should govern your installation is the instructions for your steering system regarding minimum cable bend radius.

Let me know if you need a part or two. I customized my '72 13 footer into a super sport and have parts. I ordered some custom rails from Martin Marine and have the original rails and hardware that attach to the seat clamps. I also have unused '80's OMC fuel hoses in their original packaging.
