I haven't gotten any bites on my sport 13 on the big auction site or craigslist. I know it is getting later in the boating season. I have noticed other 13's in the same situation. Am I the only one noticing this?

Here in the Charleston South Carolina area we have a pretty saturated market for Whalers. From Georgia to North Carolina right now you probably have your choice of at least a dozen 13 footers within a 3 hour drive.

The market is not saturated for nice, fairly original, older 13s. I've been approached at launch ramps, gas stations and parking lots asking if my 1981 Sport 13 is for sale. Actually, my 13 is a little rough but is in overall sound and attractive condition.

Of course looking at a boat on a trailer ready to launch is much different than reading an ad.

I had a couple of problems with your ad here. First, no price is listed. When I see that I just assume the price is so high the seller is afraid to turn off a potential buyer. That's just me. Second, I don't even know what Duracoat is. I just figure it's a form of truck bed liner and that kills any interest I may have had. Finally a link to some good guality images that can be enlarged for careful viewing is always interesting. Lacking good images I don't what kind of shape the boat is in.

His original post had a link to his Craigslist Ad with pictures and price of $3600.

I just purchased my 1st boat about 6 weeks ago. 1996 13' GLS, boat trailer and motor.
I would of also passed on you boat.
If I was going to purchase a classic 1960, it would have to be original. I wouldn't have enough knowledge to know what could have been covered up by Gel Coat and Duracoat.
I would be worried I couldn't get parts for a 1959 engine.
As-Is designation doesn't help me with confidence in the boat or work that was done on it.

JMHO,
Doug

Thanks for the feedback. I put as is in all my ads. I have it up on ebay as well. With my 100% feedback people shouldn't be worried. It is a sound boat. I can understand some people wanting newer boats and motors. Four years ago I sold a 1962 in poor shape very easy. I think maybe the market is just hit and miss right now. Thanks guys.

Superman,
All that said, I think your boat will sell for that price.
The right person has to come along wanting a decent Whaler for not a lot of investment.
Good luck with the sale.
