I just wanted to see your take on an idea for a compass location on my 1989 Montauk. I would like to keep the top of the console clear, so I was toying with the idea of a dash mounted compass at the top of the starboard instrument panel. what are your thoughts / experiences re: dash mounted compass? has anyone else done this?
thanks
Rufus

My Montauk and Outrage 17 had a compass on the top of the console.

When underway, especially in heavy fog, I found it was not great for watching my course and keeping a eye out.

My preference would be up on the console rail but I am not sure they are available.

After installing a GPS (also showed compass heading) it became a moot point.
