It's a 1999 Montauk with a 2000 4 stroke Yamaha, I just couldn't pass up a great deal on a boat with an original Yamy outboard, rarely do I see these with motors that are not original mercury. This will be better than the Dauntless 13 when I fish with more than 2 people and will have to do until I find that elusive Outrage I. The great thing about this is that it's going to fit into the garage and is light and easy to tow, well not as light as the dauntless.
I read about some people replacing the fuel tank on the Montauk but does that apply to this year model too? Anything else y'all can think of that will need to be done besides a good cleaning.
It's the fiberglass tanks that are generally the problem due to the ethanol in the fuel. Recommendation is to replace a fiberglass tank immediately if not sooner.
I would remove the hacked up stern light on the motor. It is not tall enough. There is a decent chance you would be stopped by the USCG, Marine Patrol et. al. if running at night.
It is supposed to be a 360 degree all-around light. Reinstall a proper light on the port or starboard quarter on a pole at least 4'.
