Has anyone heard of a Boston Whaler inflatable?

Saw one for sale in bad shape and is only $80. Had a plaque in the photo's. "Model 270 D, BWC 1A749, M 80B, Max HP 4, Max. Person 3.3 (I kid you not by the photo), Max. Weight 1040.

I may pick it up because I have an illness about having things sit around that the wife may not notice and it might be a blast to have for abalone diving. Any input? The plaque should have value.

From 1980 to 1986 Whaler offered four or five different inflatable models. They still pop up on craigslist rather frequently, so I assume they sold quite of few of them.

Tom,
Thanks for the reply. I thought I may have found the "Holy Grail of Collectibles". Since they come up often, I do not want another project.

My father and brother had the BW inflatables. They had issues with leaking in the first few years. We had a lot of fun with them though.
My fathers had the outboard bracket, which was interesting. My brothers had the fixed wood transom, we had a Evinrude 9.9 on it and it was more than fun.

I can't understand why anyone would buy an inflatable. Over 20 years ago I bought a 1968 13 sport from a gentleman who replaced it with a inflatable. 6-7 years later he replaced that with a cheaper new one which went south also. I still have the 1968 sport 10 + years later. A fried of mine bought a ridgid inflateable less than 10 years ago now his leaks bad and the new one like his is almost 4 grand. He went and bought a 12' Carolina skiff.

My dad has one, I grew up using it when ever we went away. Great inflatable, had a 9.9 hp evinrude on it, it flew.
