I ordered mine from Sue at twin cities marine (check the Sponsors for site on the right). It was cheaper than anywhere else and was original. I say original, it was Boston Whaler but not the same as the early sixties model 13's came with. Looks great.
Filling deck holes [Boats]

filling holes in the non-skid is hard, especially if you want to retain both the non-skid and the color. If I have a lot of them, i mix some marine-tex, place it in a west system syringe, fill the holes to below the gelcoat level then screw in a SS flathead screw. Once it all sets, it's water tight and amazingly the screws become part of the landscape and blend in after about a month.

Yes, West Marine carries West System (there's no relationship between the two though). Here's the direct link to the Spectrum gel coat paste in BW blue:
I would check a full service marine chandlery (not West Marine) and automotive supply store (NAPA, Pep Boys, etc.) for the gasket material.

Measure the width, height and length. If a shape, sketch the profile and bring this information with you. Having a sample of the old gasket is even better.

I am sure you can find material that is the correct dimensions for
a lot less than a complete hatch.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds reasonable. The West systems 6-10 filler available at West Marine? And the 'Whaler blue" gelcoat paste...where do i find that?

18' Outrage prop or engine issues [Engines]

When we got our new Etec, the dealer rigged it with a Raker prop and the boat performed very similar to what you're experiencing. Tom recommended a different prop, less swept design with more stern lift capability, and we also raised the engine on the transom. Made a world of difference in the performance of the boat, most notably in that RPM range.

As Phil suggests, start by identifying which prop you have on there now.

Self Bailing Montauk? [Boats]

All the smaller whalers are self-bailing. What does this really mean, it does not mean that if you leave the drains open that no water will come into the boat. It means that the hulls, due to their bouncy will not swamp with water and while there will be some water, on the deck it will be minimal. It means, if you leave the plugs out and it rains, the boat will not stay filled with water, but will drain the majority of the water out thru the open drains, again, leaving a minimal amount of water on the deck. Also, with the drains open, forward motion will clear the water and your deck will be dry.

How much water is totally dependent on how dry the hull, the weight of the engine and how much stuff your storing on the boat. All that weight, subtracts from the hulls buoyancy and will increase the amount of water that come in due to open drains. I would not leave a hull in the water, until i was comfortable with how much water come in through the thru hulls and that I knew the thru hulls were in good shape, which generally means i have replaced them. If the hull floats so that a lot of water, i.e. a foot deep is in the boat, i would leave the plugs in, run a bilge pump and a solar battery charger.
